The Rifle Bears start 2013 against a familiar team. Rifle will face off against neighboring Coal Ridge High School at 7:00Pm at Bears Stadium. Rifle is coming off of a 13-1 season in which they dominated nearly every opponent that they played. Coal Ridge is coming off of back-to-back 4 win seasons.
The Titans, coached by Kyle Sager, are looking for a signature win that would immediately raise eyebrows across the state. Rifle is looking to establish the same brand of hard-nosed football that led them to a nearly perfect 2012 season.
Rifle has already caught the eye of coaches and sportswriters across the state. The Denver Post sees the Bears as the #2 team in class 3A while coloradopreps.com ranks them at #5. Coal Ridge is currently unranked, but could earn some consideration with a win in week 1.
