This one was ugly.

With penalty flags flying all throughout the day, the Bears managed to squeeze out a 14-7 win over visiting Roosevelt on Saturday at Bears’ Stadium. The usually potent Bears’ offense was held in check by a tough Roosevelt defense and numerous penalty flags. Rifle scored 14 early points, on a 1st quarter Brandon Kittle run and a second quarter Ryan Moeller scamper up the middle. The Bears then had to hold on the entire second half to secure the victory.

Roosevelt played hard and physical football. They were held off of the scoreboard until a determined fourth quarter drive came up with a touchdown. But the story of the day was the Bears’ defense. Time after time the defense came up with a big fourth down stop or turnover to keep the game in hand. Roosevelt’s final drive ended at midfield with less than a minute to go.

Rifle will play Windsor next Saturday. The initial indication is that the game will be at Bears’ Stadium at 1:00. Check riflefootball.com throughout the week for more information.
